Wheelchair Anti-Tippers are rear-mounted safety extensions that prevent a wheelchair from tipping backward, particularly during ramp navigation, incline transfers, or when the patient leans back unexpectedly. They are a recommended safety addition for any patient who uses a reclining or elevating leg rest configuration, or who is at elevated fall risk.

Anti-tippers bolt onto the rear frame of most standard wheelchairs and are adjustable for height clearance. OxyCare supplies anti-tippers separately or as part of a complete wheelchair package. Rental chairs can be equipped with anti-tippers upon request.

Set-up

1. Technician will set-up wheelchair at your home.
2. Connect the footrests/legrests to your wheelchair.
3. Adjust footrests/legrests to the proper height.
4. Demonstrate features of footrests/legrests.
5. Demonstrate wheellocks/brakes.
6. Demonstrate how to fold wheelchair.
7. Demonstrate arm style features and other features.
8. Patient/Caregiver demonstrates each step and has a solid understanding.
9. Review how to call for service. When to order. Where to call.

Cleaning & Maintenance

1. Wheelchair can be wiped off with soapy water. Wipe soap off with a damp cloth.
2. Notify OxyCare of any problems with the wheelchair. Examples: rips or sagging of the upholstery, rough edges on the chrome, wheellocks that do not engage the wheel or lock, flat spots on the wheel, any components that appear loose or damaged.
3. The manufacturer recommends that you contact OxyCare every six months for service to your wheelchair.

Safety

1. Wheellocks must be engaged when getting in or out of chair.
2. Do not rock in wheelchair.
3. Be sure pathways are clear for movement within the home, check doorways.
