Extra-Long Low Air Loss Mattress System with Pump is a powered therapeutic mattress designed for taller patients — typically over 80" — who require low air loss therapy for active pressure injury treatment or prevention. The mattress surface continuously circulates air through its cells, providing microclimate management (moisture and heat dissipation) at the skin surface alongside pressure redistribution.

Low air loss therapy is indicated for patients with existing stage 2 or higher pressure injuries or those at very high risk. The extra-long frame accommodates patients who extend beyond standard mattress lengths. OxyCare delivers and sets up low air loss systems with rental available.

Please follow instructions given by the equipment technician. Please follow your doctor's orders.

Set-up

1. Technician will set-up Low Air Loss Mattress on your bed.
2. Connect tubing from the pump to the mattress.
3. Plug pump into an approved electrical outlet.
4. Turn pump on. Pump will alternate filling 2 sets of air cells. It will take 30-40 minutes to inflate mattress.
5. Turn dial to firmest setting for inflation, once mattress is inflated, adjust dial for patient comfort. After adjustment, assure proper inflation of air cells by placing hand under the air cells making sure the width of four fingers (1-2 inches) can slide between patient's buttocks and the base.
6. Make bed, placing bed linens directly on the Low Air Loss Mattress.
7. For quick deflation, or CPR positioning, open/detach CPR valve and disconnect air hoses from unit. Mattress will quickly deflate.
8. Patient/Caregiver demonstrates each step and has a solid understanding.

Cleaning

• Low Air Loss Mattress and Pump can be wiped off with soapy water. Wipe soapy water off with a dry cloth.
• Mattress can be wiped down with same solution used to sponge bathe the patient for normal soil. Wipe off excess moisture.

Safety

1. Do not use extension cords.
2. Do not have electrical cords or throw rugs near bed due to trip hazard.
3. Do not place sharp objects on the mattress, it can be punctured.
4. During normal operation, the unit will monitor pressure. If the pressure is lower than a set pressure, the pump will automatically inflate the mattress to the set level and then stop.
5. For Pressure Alarm: Check connectors between air mattress and pump. Check CPR valve. Check air connecting tubes. Check to see if there is any air leakage from cells.
6. Check air filter on back of unit. Clean periodically.
