Over-Toilet Commode functions as a raised toilet seat and safety frame, positioning directly over an existing toilet bowl to increase seat height and provide armrests for safer sit-to-stand transfers. It supports up to 300 lbs with seat height adjustable from 16" to 22", and is a practical solution for patients who can access the bathroom but have difficulty with low toilet heights or rising from the seated position.

OxyCare technicians deliver and set up the over-toilet commode, adjust it to the correct height, and ensure a secure fit over the existing toilet. Rental is available for post-surgical recovery or short-term needs.

Set-up

1. Technician will set-up the commode at your home.
2. Adjust the commode/bath seat to the proper height, adjust to the height that allows patient to stand from device.
3. Adjustments are made by depressing the spring-loaded button and moving the foot piece to the desired height.
4. Arms are used to guide the patient on and off the seat.
5. Position commode bucket in proper place.
6. Patient/Caregiver demonstrates each step and has a solid understanding.
7. Review how to call for service. When to order. Where to call.

Cleaning

1. Commodes/Bath Seats can be wiped off with soapy water. Wipe soap off with a damp cloth.
2. Commode Buckets should be emptied after each use.
3. Commode Buckets should be sanitized each day with disinfectant.

Safety

1. Watch for trip hazards (cords, throw rugs, uneven surfaces).
2. All feet on commode/bath seat must be the same height.
3. Be sure pathways are clear for movement within the home, check doorways.
4. Check for wear on the rubber tips after an extended period of use.
