Standard Walker (No Wheels) is a four-point aluminum walking frame that provides maximum stability for patients who need firm bilateral support during ambulation. Its lift-and-step gait pattern makes it most appropriate for patients who can safely lift the walker with each step, including those recovering from hip or knee surgery, patients with balance disorders, or those with general lower extremity weakness.

OxyCare supplies standard walkers in adult, junior, and bariatric sizes with height adjustment to suit each patient. Rental is available for patients in post-surgical recovery or rehabilitation.

Please follow instructions given by the equipment technician. Please follow your doctor's orders.

Set-up

1. Technician will set-up the walking aid at your home.
2. Adjust the walking aid to the proper height, generally adjust handgrips to wrist level.
3. Adjustments are made by depressing the spring-loaded button and moving the foot piece to the desired height.
4. Walkers fold by pressing button and moving sides inward.
5. Canes are generally used on the stronger side.
6. Demonstrate how to fold walker.
7. Patient/Caregiver demonstrates each step and has a solid understanding.
8. Review how to call for service. When to order. Where to call.

Cleaning

1. Walking Aids can be wiped off with soapy water. Wipe soap off with a damp cloth.

Safety

1. Watch for trip hazards (cords, throw rugs, uneven surfaces).
2. All feet on walking aid must be the same height.
3. Be sure pathways are clear for movement within the home, check doorways.
4. Check for wear on the rubber tips after an extended period of use.
