Crutches
Crutches are underarm or forearm mobility aids that allow patients to offload weight from an injured or post-surgical lower extremity while maintaining upright ambulation. They are commonly prescribed following fractures, soft tissue injuries, joint replacement, and lower limb surgeries, and remain the most widely used short-term walking aid for non-weight-bearing patients.
Crutches are adjustable in both overall height and handgrip height and should be properly fitted by a clinician to prevent axillary nerve compression. OxyCare supplies standard underarm crutches and can advise on proper fitting. Rental is available for patients in recovery.
